Grief Therapy

“There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief”

When you lose someone, there is no “normal” for you to return to…

Regardless of when your loss occurred, grief can feel like an unbearable weight that you cannot manage.  Even if you were anticipating the loss, life never feels quite right.  As a grief therapist, I help you to work through the pain, sadness, anger or whatever it is you might be feeling so that you can start feeling like life is worth living.  I am also here to tell you that it’s okay to feel like you are struggling, even if people in your life are telling you to move on.  You might not be able to “get over it”, but you can grow and learn to live again.

Grief looks different for everyone but you might benefit from support if you are feeling:

  • Depressed or intensely sad

  • Extreme anger or rage

  • Difficulty focusing/and or working

  • Feeling guilt or same

  • Struggling with your relationships and feeling disconnected to others

  • Helpless as you remember traumatic memories associated with your loss

  • Utilizing unhelpful coping skills, such as overeating or drinking

Anticipatory grief

You might also benefit from grief support if you are experiencing anticipatory grief, which may develop as you prepare for a loss.  Anticipatory grief might arise as you are facing your own loss because of a terminal illness, or that of a loved one.  Working through your grief as you are on this path can be helpful to address your emotional needs and help you feel more connected to your life, despite your impending loss.
